Stage day two….complete

Gots to watch the weather…..

Wanted to get an earlyish start from Northern Illini, but there was some storms coming across Iowa. They were passing SW to NE, so by leaving later (about noon) my drive (and visit to the Field of Dreams move site) stayed dry. As a result though, did not drop down into Story City to see the carousel. That would have put me around Des Moines about rush hour.

So a nice drive on the state roads, to get to I-80. Arrived in Walnut, Iowa safely a few hours ago.
Will post a few photos n the morning.

In Freeport, Illinois.

Little later than wanted to be, for a “quick” stop in Chicago for lunch, cannot be anything but quick. Good company w/a base (and Tiger) fan displaced in Chitown. Ended up on the UIC campus area, instead of the loop.

Hawkeye’s Bar and grill……good joint.

As a result of the longer stay and grub, left into the teeth of traffic on the Ike.
Still here at the planned spot. Couple hrs later than I wanted to be.
